Got questions about health insurance in Spain?
What is the length of a policy term for health insurance in spain?
Our policies for private health insurance are on an annual basis, which renews automatically. If you do not wish to renew your policy, you need to advise us by providing a minimum of one month’s notice, in writing, before the expiry date.
The Visa requirements state I need no wait periods, does your policy meet the requirements?
We have no wait periods for general medicine. There are a few wait periods related to specific items, which is common for all insurance companies. The visa requirements want to be sure you are covered immediately for general medicine and you will be. We provide you with a special certificate to bring with you to your visa or residency appointment.
What payment options do I have?
For health insurance in Spain, it is most common to set up direct debit from the Spanish or EU bank account of the primary policy holder (with an IBAN number). Alternatively, you may do a bank transfer for the full annual payment.
Contracting with Passport number or NIE number, you may choose to have 1 annual payment, 4 quarterly payments.
When contracting with your NIE number, you may also choose the monthly payment plan. There are no extra fees for making payment installments.
Can I contract my policy in Advance of the start date?
We can provide you a quote up to 2 months in advance. We may contract the policy with an effective date of up to 2 months in advance, but the full annual payment will need to be made when the contract is created.
How long does it take from quote to completed contract?
That depends on you. We do our best to provide you with your quote within 24 hours of your request.
If you decide you want to move forward with a contract, you need to complete a health questionnaire and the insurance application. These are reviewed by our underwriters and can be ready in 3-6 business days, depending on your answers on the questionnaire.
